Matilda Wilson 1844 to 1883 married to Thomas Silk

Matilda Wilson was the youngest child of Elizabeth and Job Wilson. She was born in Kurrajong in 1844 and died in Gladesville on January 1, 1883. 

Matilda married Thomas Silk on March 13, 1862 in Richmond. Thomas was born in Richmond on June 18, 1837 and died on March 22, 1903. He was buried at Rookwood cemetery.

Matilda and Thomas had 9 children.

Mary TURNER 1820 to 1901 married to James Overton

Mary Turner was the first child of Mary and George Turner. Mary was born on January 24, 1820, in North Richmond. She married James Overton on February 2, 1836, at Richmond. Mary died in December 1901 and is buried at St Philip's Cemetery in North Richmond. 

James Overton was born in 1798 in Herefordshire and died in 1873. He is buried in North Richmond. James was transported to Australia on the Recovery in 1818. He was employed as a labourer by William Fuller at North Richmond, according to the 1828 census.

James and Mary lived at Blaxland's Ridge near Kurrajong.

Mary and James had eight children.

Elizabeth BARWICK 1822 to 1900 married to Samuel Hurst

Elizabeth Barwick was born to Charlotte and John Barwick on December 8, 1822 and died on May 7, 1900 at Kurrajong. Elizabeth is buried at St Stephen's Anglican Church in Kurrajong. She married Samuel Hurst on May 11, 1837.


Elizabeth and Samuel had twelve children.

James Barwick 1827 to 1908 married to Mary Tarrant

James Barwick was the first son for Charlotte and John Barwick. He was born in Kurrajong on December 21, 1827. He died in Sydney on August 6, 1908. James married Mary Tarrant in 1851 at Richmond.

James and Mary had twelve children.

William Barwick was born to Charlotte and John Barwick at Kurrajong on September 17, 1836. It is unknown when or where he died. William was married twice. First to Mary Douglas in 1857 at Richmond and secondly to Jemima Shepherd - date unknown. Please note William is listed as Berwick on the marriage certificate.

William and Mary had fourchildren.

Sophia Barwick was born to Charlotte and John Barwick at Kurrajong on June 26, 1841. She died at Kensington on May 14, 1933. Sophia married Dennis Hanley in 1869.

Sophia and Dennis had nine children. All known as HANDLEY.

James Job Wilson 1863 to 1920 married Agnes Quinn

James Job Wilson was the eighth child of Edward Wilson and Susannah Riley. He was born in Kurrajong, NSW in 1863 and died in 1920.

James was married to Agnes Quinn in 1891. James was accidentally shot by his son Roy at their residence in North Sydney. You can read the article here.

Mary Ann Wilson 1843 to 1919 married James Davis

Mary Ann was the first child of Simeon Wilson and Elizabeth Horan. She was born at Kurrajong in 1843 and died there in 1919. Mary Ann married James Davis in 1871. James was the son of George Davis and Elizabeth Wilson and therefore her second cousin.

Mary Ann and James had 11 children.

1. Amelia 1862 - 1863

2. William 1864 - 1934 married Susannah Maria Wilson. 

3. Louisa 1867 - 1952 married Sydney Hearne. No issue but raised some of son Henry's children. Owned the house on the corner of Hermitage Road and Bells Line of Road.

4. Henry 1869 - 1948 married Teresa Blundell. They had three children. Henry's death notice can be read here.

5. Clara 1871 - 1940 married James Davis. No children.

6. James 1875 - 1947 married Sarah Riley. They had six children.

7. Mary Ann 1876 - ?

9. Mary May 1879 -1944 married Walter Wilson. Walter was the son of Simeon Wilson and Annie Hatwell. Therefore a distant relative of Mary.

10. Lawson 1882 - 1917 married Ethel Clarke. Lawson died of wounds in the First World War and is buried in France. He had three children.

James Davis 1842 to 1928 married to Mary Ann Wilson

James Davis was the second son of Elizabeth Wilson and George Davis. He was born at Colo, NSW in 1842 and died in Kurrajong, NSW 1928. You can read his obituary here.

He married Mary Ann Wilson in 1871. Mary Ann was the first child of Simeon Wilson and Elizabeth Horan. She was born at Kurrajong in 1843 and died there in 1919.

3. Louisa 1867 - 1952 married Sydney Alfred Hearne. Louisa live in the house on the corner of Hermitage Road and Bells Line of Road. No children but did look after her brother's children. Louisa was incredibly well known in the Hawkesbury.

4. Henry 1869 - 1948 married Teresa Blundell. They had four children.

Sarah Wilson 1848 to 1915 married William Hennessey

Sarah Wilson (1848 - 1915) was born in Kurrajong to Job Wilson Jnr and Mary Green. In 1863 she married her cousin, William Hennessey. She died in Orange, NSW.

Sarah and William had ten children.

1. Mary Ann (1864 - 1869) born and died in Kurrajong
2. Selina Sarah (1867 - ?) married William Sanderson in Sydney in 1890. Had at least two children.

4. James (1872 - 1940). James was born in Orange, NSW and married Mary O'Neil. They had at least four children.
5. Ernest (1874 - ?) married Selina Power. They had at least six children.
6. Stella (1876 -?) married Peter Grenfell. They had at least two children.
7. Leslie (1880 - 1930) married Edith King. They had at least three children.
8. William Hector (1882 - 1947) married Ada Scarr. They had at least nine children.
9. Ethel (1885 -?) married James Livingstone. They had one child.
10. Amy Elsie (1889 - 1971) married David Buesnel. No children.

James Wilson 1851 -?

Little is known of James Wilson. He was born in 1851 in Kurrajong, the son of Job Wilson Jnr and Mary Green. 

Jane Wilson 1862 to 1953 married James Sibley

Jane Wilson was the 8th child of Job Wilson Jnr but the first in his partnership with Sarah Douglas. Jane was born in Hargraves, NSW. In 1883 in Mudgee, Jane married James Sibley. 

Jane and James had seven children.

1. Fanny (1885 to ?) married William McGrath. They had two children.

2. Albert (1887 - 1952) married Ivy McAndrew. No children.

3. Walter John (1889 - 1943) married Edith McAndrew. They had four children.

4. Ernest William (1891 - 1929) married Mary Petrie. They had five children.

5. Arthur Henry (189- 1983) married Elsie Petrie. They had three children.

6. Pearl (1896 - 1933) married Cyril Campbell. They had one child.

7. Unnamed female (1899 - 1899).

James Silk was the fourth child of Matilda Wilson and Thomas Silk. He was born in Richmond in 1865 and died single in 1890 in Windsor.

John OVERTON 1838 - 1924

John Overton was the first son of Mary Turner and James Overton. He was born in 1838 in Kurrajong and died in Schofields in 1924. John married Jane Mitchell in 1859 in Richmond.

They had nine children.


1. Susannah 1857 - 1937. Married Daniel Alderton in 1880. They had thirteen children.

2. James 1859 - 1941. Married Elizabeth Merrick in 1887. They had eleven children.

3. Elizabeth 1862 - ?. Married Robert Lindores in 1882. They had eleven children.

4. Alice Jane 1865 - 1922. Married Joseph Hurst in 1884.

5. Sarah Ann 1867 - 1878.

6. William John 1870 - 1947. Married Ellen Griffiths in 1894. They had nine children.

7. Mary Ann 1873 - 1937. Married Henry E Mitchell in 1897. They had four children.

8. Clara 1877 - 1878.

 Margaret Turner (1855 to 1919) was the first child of George Turner Junior and Sarah Mitchell. Margaret married James Alderton in Richmond in 1877 and the following children.

Georgina Turner 1871 to 1947 married James Donohoe

 Georgina Turner was born in 1871 and died at Auburn in 1947. She was the daughter of George Turner and Sarah Mitchell. In 1905 Georgina married James Donohoe.

I cannot find any records of Georgina and James having children. 

Ann Hurst 1845 to 1929 married James Mason and Henry Anderson

Ann Hurst was the fifth child of Elizabeth Barwick and Samuel Hurst Senior. Ann was born in Kurrajong in 1845. She married twice. First to James Mason to whom she had twelve children. She then married Henry Anderson who died a week before her in September 1929.

1. Charlotte 1865 - 1944. Married Samuel Grove.

2. Rachel 1866 - 1956 Married George Dagg.

3. Ann 1869 - 1951 Married Hector McDonald.

4. Samuel 1873 - 1928.

5. Joshua 1876 -? Married Lucy Gollan. They had three children.

6. Elizabeth 1878 -1879.

7. Rebecca 1880 - ? Married George Lockhart.

8. James 1884 - 1953 Married Linda Bonus. They had three children.

9. Grace 1887 - ? Married Andrew Brown.

10. John 1889 - 1959 Married Eliza Godbee. They had one child.

12. Hector 1892 - 1956 Married Isabella Little. They had two children.

John Barwick was the first child of James Barwick and Mary Tarrant. He was born in Kurrajong in 1851 and died in Sydney in 1938. In 1876 John married Margaret Munro. They had seven children.

Mary Barwick was the second child of James Barwick and Mary Tarrant. She was born in Kurrajong in 1853, it is not known when she died.  In 1883 Mary married John Murray in Dubbo. They did not have any children.
