Eliza Barwick 1829 to 1908 married to Cornelius Hines & William Williams

Eliza Barwick was born in Kurrajong on May 9, 1829, to Charlotte and John Barwick. She died at Lyndhurst on March 1, 1908. Eliza married twice. First to Cornelius Hines in May 1846 at Richmond. She then married William Williams in 1883 at Carcoar. Please note: the surname is sometimes spelled Hynes

Eliza and Cornelius had 13 children.

Sophia Barwick 1841 to 1933 married to Dennis Hanley/Handley

Sophia Barwick was born to Charlotte and John Barwick at Kurrajong on June 26, 1841. She died at Kensington on May 14, 1933. Sophia married Dennis Hanley in 1869.

Sophia and Dennis had nine children. All known as HANDLEY.

2. William 1872 to 1963 (married to Mary Nelmes in 1892 at Richmond)

3. Emily 1873 to ?? (married to Henry Bell in 1892 at Richmond)

5. Albert Charles 1877 to 1877 died as an infant

6. Florence 1878 to ?? (married to William Griffiths in 1902 at Windsor) & (married James Bell)

7. Edward Roland 1881 to 1945 (married to Margaret Lyons in 1938 at Redfern)

8. Cecil George 1883 to ?? (married to Mary Jones)

William Turner 1859 to 1921 married Sophia Arnold

William Turner was the third child of George Turner Junior and Sarah Mitchell. He was born in 1859 and died in 1921. He married Sophia Arnold in Windsor in 1887. 

Sophia died in 1908 at the age of 42 from blood poisoning after she had a thorn in her hand. She is buried at St Matthews Anglican Church in Windsor.

William and Sophia had seven children. 

1. William J 1889 - 1914 married Emily Hand. Died aged 24 and is buried at St Matthews in Windsor.

Sophia Elizabeth Hines 1857 to 1918

Sophia Elizabeth Hines was the sixth child of Eliza Barwick and Cornelius John Hines. She was born in 1857 in Carcoar and died in Newcastle in 1918. 

Charlotte Handley 1870 to 1956 married John Sheens

Charlotte Handley was the first child of Sophia Barwick and Dennis Handley. She was born in Kurrajong in 1870 and died in 1956. Charlotte married John Sheens in Richmond in 1891 in Richmond. They had three children. You can read John's obituary here.

William Handley 1872 to 1963 married Mary Nelmes

William Handley was the second child of Sophia Barwick and Denis Handley. He was born in Kurrajong in 1872 and died in Sydney in 1963. William married Mary Nelmes in Richmond in 1892. They had four children. Please contact me if you have more information about this family.

Emily Handley 1893 to 1943 married Henry Bell

Emily Handley was the third child of Sophia Barwick and Denis Handley. Emily was born in Kurrajong in 1873 and died in 1943 at Redfern. Emily married Henry (Harry) Bell in Richmond in 1892. They had four children.

1. Beatrice B 1893 -1965. Married Ernest Hayter. They had two children.

2. Cyril C 1895 - 1905.

3. Mona Grace 1897 -1979. Married Joseph Pemberton. They had at least one child.

4. Henry W. D 1899 - 1982. Married Mary Courtenay. They had at least one child.

Albert Charles Handley 1877 to 1877

Albert Charles Handley was the fifth child of Sophia Barwick and Dennis Handley.  He was born in Richmond in 1877 and died there two months later.

Florence Handley 1878 to ? married William Griffiths and James Bell

Florence L Handley was the sixth child of Sophia Barwick and Dennis Handley. She was born in Richmond in 1878 and died in ? Florence was married twice. First to William Griffiths in 1902. William (known as Griffo) died in 1903. You can read his obituary here. Florence and William had one daughter, who was six months old when William died. Florence remarried in 1910 to James Bell. James died in 1912.  Florence was living in Salisbury Road Kensington when her mother Sophia died there in 1933. If you have any information about this family, please email me.
