Mary TURNER 1820 to 1901 married to James Overton

Mary Turner was the first child of Mary and George Turner. Mary was born on January 24, 1820, in North Richmond. She married James Overton on February 2, 1836, at Richmond. Mary died in December 1901 and is buried at St Philip's Cemetery in North Richmond. 

James Overton was born in 1798 in Herefordshire and died in 1873. He is buried in North Richmond. James was transported to Australia on the Recovery in 1818. He was employed as a labourer by William Fuller at North Richmond, according to the 1828 census.

James and Mary lived at Blaxland's Ridge near Kurrajong.

Mary and James had eight children.

8. Thomas 1861 to 1952 married to Jane McCabe on September 29, 1880, at Richmond).

Edward Thomas Wilson 1865 to 1932 married Emily Jane Hurst

Edward Thomas Wilson was the fourth child of Thomas Wilson and Hannah Douglass. He was born in Kurrajong in 1865 and died there in 1932. He married Emily Jane Hurst, the daughter of Joseph Hurst and Alice Overton.

Edward and Emily had eight children.

1. Garnett Aubrey 1898 - 1964 married Dorothy May Douglass. They had six children.

3. Beryl Ann 1916 - ? married Brinsley Bruce Wilson.

John OVERTON 1838 - 1924

John Overton was the first son of Mary Turner and James Overton. He was born in 1838 in Kurrajong and died in Schofields in 1924. John married Jane Mitchell in 1859 in Richmond.

They had nine children.


1. Susannah 1857 - 1937. Married Daniel Alderton in 1880. They had thirteen children.

2. James 1859 - 1941. Married Elizabeth Merrick in 1887. They had eleven children.

3. Elizabeth 1862 - ?. Married Robert Lindores in 1882. They had eleven children.

4. Alice Jane 1865 - 1922. Married Joseph Hurst in 1884.

5. Sarah Ann 1867 - 1878.

6. William John 1870 - 1947. Married Ellen Griffiths in 1894. They had nine children.

7. Mary Ann 1873 - 1937. Married Henry E Mitchell in 1897. They had four children.

8. Clara 1877 - 1878.

9. John 1882 - ?. Married Mary Kilpac in Gosford in 1902.

Thomas Overton 1861 to 1952 married Jane McCabe

Thomas Overton was the 8th child of Mary Turner and James Overton. He was born in 1861 and died in Richmond, NSW in 1952. He married Jane McCabe in 1880. They had 12 children.

1. John 1881 - ? Married Eleanor Walsh. They had five children.

2. Mary May 1883-1883.

3. James 1885 - 1885.

4. Herbert 1887 - ? Married Ada Porter.

5. Minnie 1888 - 1965. Married Clarence Case. They had two children.

6. Arthur 1890 - 1955.

8. Hilda May 1894 -1968. Married Harvey Case. They had three children.

9 Ethel 1895 -1981. Married Sydney Sheldon. They had

Margaret Overton 1858 to 1881

Margaret Overton was the 7th child of Mary Turner and James Overton. She was born in 1858 and died in 1881 in Kurrajong. 

Ann Overton 1854 to 1877 married Robert London

Ann Overton was the daughter of Mary Turner and James Overton. She was born in 1854 in Kurrajong. She married Robert London in 1871. She died in 1877. Robert and Ann had four children.

Susannah Overton was the second daughter of Mary Turner and James Overton. She was born in Kurrajong in 1847 and died there in 1899. She is buried in North Richmond. Susannah married John Shepherd in 1870. They had 11 children.

8. Willow 1885-1967. Married Elsie Mabel Johnston. They had nine children.

9. Victor 1887 -1936. Married Elizabeth Greenfield and Ila Murray. Had four children.

11. Harvey Maurice 1892 - 1965 Married Laura Sonter. They had nine children.

Sarah Overton was the first daughter and third child of Mary Turner and James Overton. Sarah was born in Kurrajong in 1844 and died in North Richmond in 1875. She married Richard Packer in 1863. They had six children.

1. Hannah 1864 - 1925 married Joseph Perry and Ernest Tierney. They had at least 5 children.

2. Mary An 1866 - 1925 married William Thomas Merrick. They had ten children.

James Overton 1842-1878 married Elizabeth Mitchell (nee Lord)

James Overton was the second son of Mary Turner and James Overton. He was born in 1842 in Kurrajong and died in Richmond in 1878. James married Elizabeth Mitchell (nee Lord) in 1875. Elizabeth (1815 - 1879) was the widow of Edward Mitchell. They had at least one child.

1. Elizabeth Ann 1860 - 1942 married John Tierney in 1882 in Richmond. 

John Tierney 1857 to 1927 married Elizabeth Overton

John Tierney was born to Elizabeth Turner and Michael Tierney in 1857. He died in 1927 at Richmond and is buried at St Stephen's Kurrajong. In 1882 John married Elizabeth Overton and they had eleven children. Elizabeth died in 1942 and is buried at St Philips cemetery in North Richmond.
