William Brooks was the second child of Ann Turner and Squire Brooks. He was born in 1846 and died in Windsor in 1910. He married Rosetta Mitchell (daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Mitchell) in 1882 at Windsor.
Unfortunately, William died in a terrible accident in Windsor when he was carting coal. In the days before the accident, he had been buried up to his arm pits while digging a grave at St Matthews Windsor and rescued!! You can read about William here and also, this article here
Rosetta died in 1915 aged 69. You can read her obituary here. Rosetta had previously been married to William Seymour (1863).

Hey Tracey. Hope you're doing well. I'm a descendant of Rosetta Mitchell. However, I'm not sure whether biologically the father of my great-great-grandfather William Brooks (born 1876 or 1878?) was William Seymour or William Brooks.
ReplyDeleteYou've written here that there was a William Seymour born in 1878, but on William's later marriage certificate he said he was 24 in 1900 which would make his birth year 1876? So not sure if these are two different people or he changed his surname and wrote his birth year incorrectly.
Also, I found on Trove an article (link below) saying that William Seymour and Rosetta Mitchell were separated around the time of William's birth whether that be 1876 or 1878?
Was wondering what your sources were for William's birth being in 1878 and if you had any more illuminating information regarding this family. Thanks a lot for your research!
